What Owners Say
"The V8 engine has a lot of power and great acceleration, but if your a bit heavy on the right foot you'll pay for it at the pump! The Toyota has one of the best turning ratios of any pick up out there. The 4wd work really good. And in good Toyota form, it's been very reliable, other than tires, I haven't had to replace or fix anything on it. Not counting a couple of recalls from the factory that didn't cost me anything."
Robert C., CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Excellent towing vehicle"
Anonymous, PA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Drives great excellent horse power"
Hunter H., TX (2008 Toyota Tundra)"very solid and comfortable"
Anonymous, MO (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Acceleration is good. Handling is just not as responsive or agile as a sedan, but I don't think any pick-up is."
Hyrum A., NH (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Exceptional steering and handling. Acceleration is superb"
Anonymous, ME (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The Tundra was made to haul - we tow over 9,000 pounds and it never quits and with the cruise on, we stay with traffic and not behind the slower trucks. The automatic shift feature is seamless, and we love this truck! Will never sell it, keep it forever and give to our grandchildren when we no longer drive!"
Anonymous, AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Excellent acceleration and handling."
Victor V., CO (2008 Toyota Tundra)"acceleration and comfort"
Anonymous, MD (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Handles and accelerates great. Gas mileage could be improved."
Lloyd H., MD (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Have driven it cross-country 3 times in last couple of years without incident. Handles freeway speeds of 80+ and accelerated passing speeds easily."
Frieda H., OR (2008 Toyota Tundra)"gas pedal is too sensitive. Later models are improved. Ride is good"
Jordan N., TX (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Powerful engine. Handles & drives as well as it did when new."
Dave R., CO (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Has plenty of power and rides good"
Anonymous, FL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"We use the this vehicle primarily as a people/equipment hauling tool. We have a band and this truck has worked exceptionally well for carrying a full load of band members as well as an enclosed trailer behind. The towing package works great, even with heavier loads, and with our 5x8 band trailer, I almost forget that it's there. The 5.7L engine is more than enough power for every job I've ever used it for. Also, the Crew Cab model is extremely spacious and makes long road trips feel like you..."
Jessica H., SC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Accelerates well and the steering is very good"
David C., SC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Powerful acceleration is hard to adapt to, but excellent for maneuvering"
Lara F., OR (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Great power, esp for towing. Tight turning radius is a great help. great vehicle for long trips"
Christopher S., NC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The acceleration is, at times, sluggish and then it jumps forward when it "catches". It looks like the driver is driving erratically, when in fact, they are not. The turning radius is also cumbersome."
Anonymous, GA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Quick pick-up and passing. Great tow vehicle for 6,600 pound travel trailer."
JAMES N., AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Turns sharp for a full size truck. Plenty of power and not too bad on fuel compared to another truck I had owned."
ROSS D., WA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"High rear differential ratio provides relatively increased towing capacity at expense of gas mileage but vehicle struggles to handle payload and trailer towing at high end of capacity."
Anonymous, FL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The drive was great until the stupid gas pedal issue. The replacement make accelerating a jerky uncomfortable start."
KATHY H., NH (2008 Toyota Tundra)"definately got what we paid for.....has plenty of power to keep us out of harms way when needed."
Anonymous, SC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Acceleration is jerky, especially when cold it is difficult to accelerate smoothly."
Anonymous, WI (2008 Toyota Tundra)"I have 28 ft boat that I tow(10000LBS ) . This truck pulls it with ease and handles the stopping of the load adequately as well. I also do a lot of off road driving, farm fields, and the 4x4 mode handles it with ease."
R C., IL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Very stable and handles great on slick surfaces. Awesome acceleration. Somewhat difficult to park due to size."
Anonymous, IL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The acceleration is very sensitive when the engine is cold and the AC/defrost is turned on. The truck wants to rapidly accelerate under these conditions."
TOM W., IN (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Awesome power."
DAVID L., WI (2008 Toyota Tundra)"I found that the stock passenger tires that came with my truck were much too weak in the sidewall for such a heavy truck. I had the dealership switch my tires to LT tires and find it is much improved."
TIM C., NE (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Seems to not have enough power to tow it's specified weight."
TRUDY B., BC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"This truck is a great cross-country cruiser. I also pull an rv trailer. I chose this truck over a Tacoma because of the V-8. It really pulls the trailer effortlessly, slowing down only on the steepest, long inclines, like going up into the mountains."
TINK T., CO (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Love the truck but it is such a big vehicle that I have I am not comfortable driving it every day. We live where we need a 4x4 powerful truck in case of emergency. We enjoy the ride on the road but the mpg is not great but knew that when we purchased it. You can not have this power and 4x4 and great mpg!"
RON C., NM (2008 Toyota Tundra)"handles really well"
Anonymous, AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"This year of Tundra has touchy acceleration, it lurches. Newer years do not."
RON M., BC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Very comfortable, great acceleration when needed. Not a very high payload capacity. Gas mileage lower than desired."
Anonymous, WA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Seats are roomy and comfortable. great sound system. lots of power."
FILMORE H., CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Excellent acceleration. Enough torque to pull a house down the road. We use ours on the ranch to pull a gooseneck cattle trailer. Unfortunately, it get very poor mileage when doing so."
CHRIS C., TX (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Tons of power, strong acceleration"
Anonymous, OH (2008 Toyota Tundra)"smooth"
Anonymous, TN (2008 Toyota Tundra)"with a 5.7 liter engine and a transmission to match, this truck can get away from you if you are not careful. Outstanding handling with or without a load"
Anonymous, CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"I tow a camper four or five times a year. The truck has the 5.7L engine and has lots of power. I don't care about the fuel economy-I didn't buy it for that feature. It has had zero mechanical problems in the past ten years."
Daniel A., SC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"This 2008 Tundra has a great turning radius! Best I've ever had in a truck. Also is powerful with great pick up."
Anonymous, AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"kick ass great"
Anonymous, TX (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Plenty of power to tow my toy hauler. Also, excellent fuel mileae empty."
Anonymous, AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"I have the little V-8 and it meets my needs nicely. Handling is a problem for me because I am short and this is a huge truck ... head in parking is a problem. Handles well on the road ... outside rearviews are a good size."
Anonymous, GA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"4wd is excellent. Acceleration is excellent but accelerator pedal is too sensitive at low speeds, sometimes contributing to lurching starts. Excellent towing capacity and handling."
John S., CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Shifting into drive from park or reverse is slow to engage, and car rolls backward momentarily if on a hill."
Anonymous, CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Gets up and goes. Lots of power."
Anonymous, WA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Powerful V8"
Anonymous, ID (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The 6 speed transmission shifts smoothly and it only handles poorly is when the transfer case is in low range. The acceleration performs like it should with 381 horsepower."
Dan F., WI (2008 Toyota Tundra)"This vehicle has good acceleration, even with a load. The transmission shifts smoothly, even on gravel or rough roads."
Peter F., BC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It has a lot of power that allows quick acceleration. The steering control is firm."
Martin K., AZ (2008 Toyota Tundra)"driving is great, but parking difficult"
Randy T., TX (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It will keep up with most vehicles in its category, still looks great after 10 yrs."
Robert M., VA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Great acceleration and power. Hauls and handles exceptional loads other trucks have difficulty with."
Lloyd H., MD (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Very good acceleration for entering a freeway or passing. Handling is good on curvy roads and on rough dirt roads. Brakes are excellent. Great vehicle for inclement weather too. It’s heavy enough to splash through standing water without sudden swerves."
Brian B., OR (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The engine is very powerful. I'm a fairly conservative driver, but when I need to pass it's nice to know that I have the horsepower available to do so."
J F., CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Fast acceleration and handles most any terrain"
Denice B., WA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"more power than our previous mini-van... engine breaths easier, does great in flat lands not bad in mountainous areas handles like a lower profile car"
Lavoyd D., OK (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It is a great truck. Have only had it about 6 months. I wish it had the tow package option; that would have allowed us to pull a larger RV trailer. The outside mirrors block good turning vision. It needs mirrors like the Super Duty Fords (F250, etc). Toyota needs a 3/4 ton truck to keep up with the growing RV industry."
K C., AL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"handling"
Daniel J., GA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"I love the way my truck handles and accelerates --- and it's been doing handling and accelerating great for the last 10 years and 258,000 miles. Acceleration is 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds --- and this is a pickup truck. Handling is always predictable, stable and comfortable. Ride is not too soft and not too hard."
Joseph C., CT (2008 Toyota Tundra)"ok"
Anonymous, BC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Power and backing in a boat"
Steven H., AL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Engine power during heavy loads, excellent brakeing system,"
Julius L., SC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The 5.7 V8 has plenty of power. I am happy I went with the large engine. It is great for acceleration and overtaking. Ride comfort is acceptable for such a big truck."
Andrew D., OH (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It's handling is as good as I have ever experienced. I have on reservations about stating it's excellence. It's acceleration is amazing for a vehicle of any size and especially one as large as it. I'm a very quiet, easy going driver, but on the few occasions I have needed extreme acceleration in an emergency, I could hardly believe how fast it became and how quickly."
Boyd M., GA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The 5.7 CI engine is more than adequate for pulling my travel trailer."
Anonymous, CA (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Very powerful engine that can tow my 8000 lb trailer with ease."
Noll D., KY (2008 Toyota Tundra)"The transmission slips a lot, the response is sluggish and delayed."
Christina C., VT (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Vehicle has good acceleration, is quite nimble and gets decent MPG for a vehicle of this size."
Anonymous, MN (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It has a huge turning radius and thats a drawback, but you get used to it after driving for a while. Once I'm on the road it gets me where I'm going quickly."
Marcus C., NC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"It will really go if you get on it"
Virginia J., NC (2008 Toyota Tundra)"i have never had one problem with this pickup. drives great, very good power & acceleration"
Jerry D., NM (2008 Toyota Tundra)"Overall satisfaction with all handling and power capabilities. Con: gas mileage is the trade off for the power it has"
Mick B., FL (2008 Toyota Tundra)"solid ride, sensitive steering, great acceleration"
Anonymous, TN (2008 Toyota Tundra)
"Very powerful acceleration, handles well considering it is a pickup."
Glenn K., WA (2008 Toyota Tundra)
