Home Comfort
At 50 pounds, the Coway Airmega ProX air purifier is quite heavy, but it also delivers high-quality performance. On both higher and lower speeds, this model excels at clearing rooms of dust, pollen, and smoke. And it scores well when it comes to noise. It accommodates indoor spaces up to a whopping 2,126 square feet. But the ProX’s top-tier performance comes at a hefty price (even on sale), plus about $247 annually, according to our estimates. The ProX features three speeds, a filter indicator, and a dirt sensor. In our surveys, CR members say they’re highly satisfied with their Coway air purifiers. The brand earns top marks for predicted reliability, too.
The price for the portable Blue Pure 211i Max dropped today to the lowest price we’ve seen during the sale. This air purifier does a terrific job on its higher setting removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs about $109 a year to maintain. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. The HoMedics AP-C500 is a large-room air purifier with a budget-friendly price tag (and an additional 20 percent off coupon makes this deal even better). It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500. The major difference—this model is designed for medium rooms of 150-350 square feet so it’s smaller in size and has a smaller price tag
The Levoit PlasmaPro 600S is a solid performer all-around, clearing the air of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower settings with great results. It’s noisy while running at a high speed, but it’s relatively quiet at low speeds, making it ideal for an office or bedroom. And you don’t have to worry about keeping track of filter changes: An indicator light alerts you when it’s time. This machine also has a dust sensor and a programmable timer.
The medium-capacity Midea MAD35S1QWT is a top performer in our ratings and can remove 35 pints of moisture from the air per day. It aces our water removal, energy efficiency, and convenience tests. It also earns an excellent score for noise, making it one of the quietest models in this category and earning it the title of the highest-scoring dehumidifier. This model is equipped with a digital display, a built-in water pump, and a timer.
For smaller spaces—and if noise is a concern—check out the Midea MAD20S1QWT. It’s quieter than any model in our ratings, but earns standout scores for water removal, convenience, and humidistat accuracy. It’s also relatively energy-efficient and includes some nice features, such as a timer and an auto-restart function that turns the machine back on to its previous settings after a power outage. It also comes with a hose to divert water to a drain. Midea’s dehumidifiers received a very favorable rating for reliability and a midlevel rating for owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys.
This portable HoMedics humidifier offers solid overall performance and is intended to humidify areas up to 25 square feet. It earns top marks in our noise and efficiency tests, but performs poorly when filled with hard water. Despite this and a few other drawbacks—a short power cord and only two settings—it’s still a solid choice, especially in this price range.
You can’t really go wrong with the HoMedics UHE-CMTF45-GY Total Comfort UV-C, which is designed to humidify small rooms of up to 278 square feet. It’s quiet, energy-efficient, and has top-tier moisture output. It comes with a nightlight feature and has an indicator that shows when you need to clean the humidifier.
This Blueair large room humidifier is intended to humidify areas up to 500 square feet. It does a solid job at providing moisture to the air, and its output isn’t much affected by hard water. The humidistat that it uses to control humidity levels scores well in our tests for accuracy. We like that its power cord is longer than 70 inches and that the humidifier’s tank can be washed in the dishwasher, making it less of a pain to clean.
Few of us are thinking about space heaters in the middle of July, but when fall’s chill arrives, you’ll be glad you snatched this deal on one of the best space heaters from our tests. This small Comfort Zone heater’s controls are easy to use, the fan can run at multiple speeds, and its current low price is a bonus. It also comes with a remote and a tip-over safety switch that shuts the heater off when it’s knocked over.
Vacuums and Floor Care
We’ve seen the Shark Stratos IZ862H as low as $250 around Black Friday, but that big of a discount isn’t likely going to come around anytime soon, so now’s a good chance to buy this vacuum. It has Shark’s signature DuoClean brush roll and a flexible wand for reaching under furniture. It earns top scores for cleaning bare floors and removing debris along edges. But if you have carpet, it’s only so-so. A dirt sensor increases suction when the vacuum senses debris and decreases when the floor is clean. It has a self-cleaning mechanism that prevents hair from getting tangled around the brush roll. The vacuuming mode and battery life are displayed on the console.

At 8.1 pounds, the Shark Ultralight PetPro HZ702 is extremely light. It’s outstanding at picking up pet hair and impressive at cleaning edges and bare floors, though it does only a so-so job of vacuuming debris from carpet. One impressive feature is that the top of the vacuum can be detached and hooked to the bottom for easy storage. It also comes with an odor neutralizer to prevent bad smells from developing in the machine.

A high performer among the portable carpet cleaners we tested (which as a group clean less effectively than full-sized machines), the Shark StainStriker PX201 Carpet Cleaner is decent at cleaning stains and impressive at removing cleaning solutions from carpets, leaving them dry. We also gave it a very good score for convenience, which combines cord length, weight, and ease of filling and emptying. It comes with a 57-inch hose and other attachments, including pet tools.

If you’re a pet owner looking for a vac strong enough to handle your pet’s stray hair, this one should be on your shortlist. The Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly UltraPlush 81714 lives up to its name and overshines other canisters for picking up fur. It’s also top-notch at cleaning bare floors and very good at removing debris from carpets.

The price on this Shark Vertex DuoClean AZ2002 is a real steal. It picks up pet hair especially well, has exceptional suction power, and does a solid job containing small dust particles. It also has a lift-away canister, which makes cleaning hard-to-reach places easier. The self-cleaning brush roll prevents pet hair (and any long hair) from wrapping around it and getting tangled in the vacuum.

If you’re tired of lugging around a heavy hand vacuum while cleaning, you should consider the Shark Ion W1 WV201. At 1.4 pounds, it’s one of the lightest hand vacs we’ve tested. And despite its strong cleaning performance, it’s also fairly quiet. The one downside is that its bin is on the small side, which means you have to empty it frequently when you’re tackling a bigger mess.

Tools and Yard Care
This corded, electric Black+Decker BEBL7000 is effective for smaller jobs, keeping in mind that you’ll be limited by the length of your extension cord. It can also be converted to a vacuum mode for collecting and mulching leaves into a bag, and the bag can be worn as a backpack.
Bosch Chameleon
This 12-volt Bosch Chameleon cordless drill has enough power to tackle jobs around the house efficiently. It has two speed settings and comes with four nifty attachments that allow you to work easily in all kinds of tight corners and hard-to-reach spots.
String Trimmer
Greenworks ST80L210
The battery-powered Greenworks ST80L210 offers solid performance, and this deal is a good price, likely because the model is discontinued. This trimmer uses a Greenworks 80-volt battery, and the battery itself will still be available.

Small Kitchen Appliances
The CR-Recommended Instant Vortex Plus 140-3089-01 air fryer has a viewing window and light, so you won’t need to pull out the drawer to check on your food. With filters to minimize odors, you may feel more at ease air-frying fish and crisping up onion rings. The engineers in our air fryer lab found that this model has easy-to-use controls, and it received very good scores for noise and ease of cleaning. We’ve seen this model at the same discounted price in the last three months, but it’s still a great deal.

We don’t frequently see deals on this high-end blender model, so the sale price on the Breville Super Q BBL920BSS1BUS1 is a good one if cost is what held you back from buying one, perhaps to match other Breville appliances in your kitchen. In our labs, it aced our durability and purée tests and received an excellent score for convenience, meaning it’s easy to clean, has clear controls, isn’t too heavy, and its jar has clear markings and is easy to pour from. Like most blenders we test, it earns a middling score for noise, but there are other models that are noisier.

Considering all of the attachments that come with this food processor, the Ninja Foodi Ultimate System SS401 truly is a whole system. In addition to grating, shredding, and slicing attachments and a dough blade, it comes with a personal blender attachment to help you whip up smoothies. It shows excellent performance in our shredding and grating tests and very good performance in chopping onions and almonds and slicing celery and mushrooms in our lab. We see this model on sale at this price or less roughly twice a year, this being one of them.

The Hamilton Beach 31156 has a novel design, with a traditional-looking toaster up top and an oven cavity below. If toast is a priority for you—but additional features are a big plus—this is a solid pick, and we haven’t seen a price this good in a while. It’s the only toaster oven model in our ratings to receive top-notch scores in all of our tests for toast, and it does a solid job at baking, though the oven height is low, so it may not fit taller bakeware.

If you know, you know. Zojirushi coffee makers earn excellent scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction, meaning CR members who own them love them enough to recommend them, and they stand the test of time. And our testers found Zojirushi Dome Brew Programmable EC-ESC120 exceptionally easy to use. There’s a brew strength control and a small batch setting; the carafe is easy to handle and pour, and you can expect little to no dribble when doing so. This is the best deal on this model that we’ve seen since Black Friday.

Water Filters
The Culligan Zero Water ZD-012-RP is a rare water filter pitcher that is certified to remove PFAS, lead, and chlorine from your drinking water. It demonstrated very good results in our tests for flavor and odor reduction and proved resistant to clogs. It can filter 15 gallons before requiring replacement of the filter cartridge, which at about $105 a year is more than most pitchers we’ve tested.
You can score this Everpure under-sink dual system at almost half off the regular price. It’s certified to remove key contaminants—lead, chlorine and PFAS. Its filter life indicator lets you know when it’s time to replace the cartridge, which we estimate will cost $157 per year. That’s a little more pricey than replacement filters on similar models, but the Everpure’s filters last longer than any of its tested competitors, cleaning 1,000 gallons before needing replacement.
Sleep Essentials
If you’re in the market for a durable foam mattress under $300, the Marley mattress from Sleep Innovations could fit the bill. It’s best for petite and average back sleepers, as well as petite side sleepers who like their mattress on the softer side. It earns a very good score for stabilization.

Blackout curtains that can double as decor are a win in our books. These blackout curtains earn top marks in our tests. Both the darkest color (warm black) and the lightest (porcelain white) we tested completely blocked a beam of light from a powerful flashlight. The panels also offered good insulation against the blazing heat of the summer sun and winter drafts.
A few drawbacks: These heavy curtains look and feel more like buttery faux suede than plush luxe velvet, which may or may not be your cup of tea. Also, the curtains are sold as single panes instead of in pairs, so you may need to buy two, paying double the price shown here. Depending on where you shop, you can choose from more than two dozen colors.

This 2-inch memory-foam topper provides great support while still allowing you to sink into it. And at 8 pounds, it’s not overly heavy to maneuver. It’s flippable, but this deal doesn’t come with a cover (though you can add one on yourself), and a lack of corner straps means it might shift around. You can return Linenspa products for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

If sleek washers are your style, consider LG’s Signature WM9900HSA front-loader. Recently introduced, it offers a minimalist brushed-steel design with an intuitive LCD touchscreen, generous 5.8 cubic-foot capacity, 26 wash programs, and AI technology that automatically detects fabrics and load size and selects the ideal settings for both the washer and its companion dryer. It also has an auto dispenser that releases detergent for up to 36 loads before refilling and can be operated remotely through its app. The price on this machine was slightly lower in the spring, but this is still a good buy.
Packing Cubes
Amazon Basics Packing Cubes
You can save a few bucks on this packing cube set from Amazon. The cubes come in small, medium, large, and slim. Overall, the quality is reflected in its name: It’s good but basic. And though it might not have extra features such as pockets or buckles, the Amazon Basics 4-Piece Packing Travel Organizer Cubes Set is perfect for people who don’t want to deal with too many cubes and just want something simple and functional.
