If you prefer to shop at Home Depot or Lowe’s, it’s even better to get a bargain when you buy, right? Now that Amazon Prime Day is up and running, you’ll find many of the same discounts on products such as lawn care tools like string trimmers, mowers, and leaf blowers, as well as vacuums, large appliances, and even smart home devices and kitchen appliances. You might be able to save even more if you participate in MyLowe’s Rewards or Home Depot’s Pro Xtra loyalty programs, or if you’ve got a credit card that rewards you for shopping there. I’m here to bring you the best deals on CR-tested products from both retailers.

I consider each product’s quality, its performance in our lab tests, and the cost over time relative to the current discount to determine whether something is actually a good deal. I want you to be able to make an informed decision and make the most of your money, whether you’re investing in a new refrigerator or washing machine, or picking up a new camera, coffee maker, carpet cleaner, or smart speaker.

Leaf Blowers

The Ego LB7654 delivers all-star performance across the board, adept at loosening and sweeping, all in an easy-to-handle package despite weighing 9.9 pounds. In addition, this electric blower comes with a generous five-year warranty. As a brand, Ego battery handheld leaf blowers are very reliable and earn a top mark for owner satisfaction in our latest member surveys. Amazon’s price might be a little better, but the difference is negligible, and you might be able to pick it up at your nearest location the same day.

Pressure Washers

The DeWalt DWPW2600 pressure washer is lightweight (23 pounds) and rectangular, with a low profile that helps keep it from toppling over when in use. It provides excellent cleaning performance, but it’s a bit noisier and has less power (2,600 pounds per square inch) than some other models on this list. It has five replaceable nozzle tips, a soap dispenser bottle, a 25-foot hose, and a 35-foot power cord. The pressure washer can be stored horizontally or vertically on its durable frame.

Lawn Mowers

Ego LM 2135

Your neighbors will thank you for using an Ego LM2135 because it’s very quiet at 25 feet away and at the ear of the user. While this unit is often a bit expensive as far as push mowers go, its performance rates high for mulching, cut evenness, and handling. It also earns nearly as impressive ratings in bagging and side discharging. Run time is as long as 50 minutes, enough to cover about a quarter of an acre in one go. What’s more, the battery can be fully charged in just over an hour.

String Trimmers

The Milwaukee 3016-21ST gets top marks for trimming and edging, and it handles tall grass and weeds impressively. It’s also versatile because it can handle different attachments, meaning you can swap out the string trimmer head for other tools, like a pole saw or hedge trimmer. This model gets midrange scores for ease of use (typical of most battery trimmers in our tests), and our testers found the handle difficult to adjust. At more than 12 pounds, it’s also one of the heaviest battery-operated models in our ratings. But the Milwaukee 3016-21ST gets excellent scores for reliability and owner satisfaction. It’s part of Milwaukee’s M18 battery platform of power tools.

Grills

This high-end midsized Fuego F27S grill hits almost every mark. It rates very good at producing even heat, preheating quickly, offering a wide range of high and low temperatures, and creating indirect heat. It’s less likely than many other models to flare up. Notable features include recessed folding shelves and burners with a long warranty. (They’re the parts that are replaced the most.) An unimpressive rating for convenience is one of its few blemishes.

Kitchen

The Ninja Single Serve Pods & Grounds PB051 dual coffee maker is perfect for college students in a dorm or an apartment. It’s almost three machines in one: a pod coffee maker, a drip coffee maker, and a milk frother. For single-serve Keurig K-Cups, a speedy first cup is paramount, and our testers found this model to be excellent in that regard. For drip brewing, we rated performance very good, meaning the machine brewed at between 195° and 205° F for 5 or 6 minutes, the industry standard for optimal brewing and the best flavor. This Ninja model has a removable reservoir, a water filter, and an indicator to tell you when you’ll need to clean it.

The snazzy Café CVM721M2NS5 has a recessed handle and hidden digital controls that run along the bottom. When you tap on the glass touchscreen, the options for time and cooking modes pop into view. In addition to looking good, it cooks well, earning an excellent rating in our heating evenness test. It’s also first-rate at defrosting, and it operates quietly. A sensor prevents you from overheating your food. In our member surveys, Café over-the-range microwaves earned middling scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

Air Purifiers

Looking for a powerful air purifier for a large space? This AirDoctor pick is rated for 650 square feet or more and does a fine job removing airborne particles. Like most air purifiers, it’s a bit noisy at higher speeds. It also has high operation costs. (If you’re looking for a model that’s WiFi-enabled and can pair with an app, the AirDoctor AD5500i is also on sale, though we haven’t tested that one.)

Home Security Cameras

The Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera can run off either a rechargeable battery or plug-in power cord, sold separately for $50, which connects to the bottom of the camera and can run up to 25 feet to connect to an outlet. It performs quite well in our lab tests, includes a siren, and offers voice/app control with all four major platforms: Amazon Alexa, Apple Home (with an Arlo Pro Smart Hub, sold separately), Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. Additional features, such as activity zones, person detection, and cloud video storage, require an Arlo Secure subscription.

Vacuums

The Shark PowerDetect HZ4002 does an admirable job of cleaning bare floors and does almost as well on carpet. It features an auto-detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed to the surface, transitioning efficiently between the two. It can be pulled apart for compact storage, allowing it to stand on its own and take up minimal space. This model even delivers powerful suction in reverse for more efficient cleaning in both a forward and backward motion. We’ve seen it sell at lower prices this year, but this is still a pretty good discount.

It doesn’t come with tons of extra features, but the Shark Matrix RV2310AE gets the job done when it comes to cleaning, and it’s $30 less than it was before these sales began. It’s excellent at picking up pet hair and does an exemplary job at sucking up debris from bare floors. While its dustbin is relatively small, our testers say it’s very easy to empty the dustbin and to clean the filter.

Consistent with its moniker, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser erased any evidence of pet hair from test carpets. It wasn’t the most powerful vacuum, but testers like the lighted crevice tool and the lights on the side of the vacuum that make it easier to see debris along edges. This model also has a lift-off feature, which allows the user to convert the vacuum to canister mode.

The Dyson Car+Boat 586119-01 is pricier than the other handheld vacuums we test, but its 24-minute run time is really impressive. It’s also a strong cleaner, especially with pet hair. (Though it’s not as effective at sucking up debris from smaller crevices.) We love that this handheld vacuum comes with a pistol grip, which means less strain on your wrist. The current price is the lowest this vacuum usually sells for when discounted.

The Bosch Unlimited 10 BCS1041TUC is currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen this year. We appreciate its convenient features, especially its bendable tube that makes it easier to clean under furniture, and its relatively long battery time. It’s a strong cleaner and can pick up debris when moving both forward and backward, unlike other vacuums that typically pick up debris only when pushed forward.

The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 comes with lots of bells and whistles, including a dirt detection feature and a floor detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed based on the surface it’s vacuuming. It’s very good at sucking up debris from carpets and is even more impressive at picking up pet hair. The vacuum can be converted into a hand vac and folded for storage.

Carpet Cleaners

The Shark CarpetXpert EX201 isn’t exactly quiet—it earned a middling rating in our noise test—but it boasts strong performance in cleaning stains. It also did well in our dryness test and is excellent at removing cleaning solutions from carpets. It comes with a hose that’s 60 inches long to get into tight spots.

Top-Freezer Refrigerators

The LG LT18S2100W delivers strong performance all-around. And given its price, it’s also an incredible bargain—we have seen it for $100 less before, but not in some time. This refrigerator, 28 inches wide, garners stellar ratings for energy efficiency and thermostat control, and it’s also excellent when it comes to temperature uniformity and noise output, making it one of the quieter top-freezers we’ve tested. But this model receives our lowest rating for ease of use. In surveys of our members, LG top-freezers got a top-notch rating for predicted reliability and a middling score for owner satisfaction.

Washing Machines

The LG WM3400CW is already quite inexpensive even when it’s not discounted, so this is a great deal. Especially given the quality of its performance, it’s a smart buy as well as an environmentally friendly choice. You still get exceptional washing performance along with water and energy efficiency. But this model isn’t particularly gentle on fabric, so you might want to try the delicate cycle for your best threads. This washer’s claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet, and its cycle time is 105 minutes.

One of the most budget-friendly top-load agitators in our tests, the LG WT7005CW is $20 less than it was during the last big sale. This eco-friendly Green Choice washer isn’t the gentlest on clothes, but it conserves energy and water. It’s among the quietest models in our tests and causes little to no vibration, meaning it won’t disturb you with rumbling. The cycle time is 70 minutes using the normal-wash, heavy-soil setting. Shorten it by using the normal-soil setting when you can.

Clothes Dryers

The top-rated LG DLE3400W is just $50 more than its best price. We expect it to perform similarly to the CR-tested LG DLEX3700W (now discontinued). The tested model delivers solid performance across the board, nabbing an ace rating for noise and ratings near the top in our drying and convenience tests. This stackable Energy Star certified machine, with a claimed capacity of 7.4 cubic feet, is equipped with a moisture sensor, an extended tumble, custom programs, and an end-of-cycle signal, offering all these features at a fairly low price.

Freezers

The self-defrosting GE FUF14DLRWW offers top performance at a good value, even if the price is $50 higher than its best price of the year. This small, upright freezer aces both the thermostat control and temperature uniformity tests, and it’s very good (though not the best) at keeping food frozen during a power outage. It earns a middling score for noise. It’s impressive in energy efficiency and has a bonus quick-freeze feature, which is a welcome addition at this price.

Dishwashers

The budget-friendly LG LDFC2423V is now just $50 more than its best price. The brand got dinged in our member surveys for its middling reliability and satisfaction scores, but this appliance has a lot going for it, starting with its stellar washing performance. It’s also considerably less expensive than the Bosch models that dominate this category. This model is also fairly quiet when running and has some of the design elements that make life a lot easier, like a soil sensor, an adjustable upper rack, adjustable tines, and a time-remaining display. That said, its drying performance is just okay.

French-Door Refrigerators

The LG LFCS22520S French-door refrigerator receives stellar ratings for thermostat performance and temperature uniformity, and impresses in our tests for noise output. This 30-inch-wide LG also receives midlevel scores for energy efficiency, ease of use, and icemaker performance, but it receives a poor score for its crisper drawer performance. This model comes with digital controls, a door-open alarm, an icemaker, and spillproof shelves, but it lacks a built-in water filter. LG French-door refrigerators also earn middling predicted reliability and owner satisfaction scores in our latest member surveys. For a similar version of this refrigerator with a through-the-door water/ice dispenser, see the LG LFDS22520S.

Electric Ranges

The LG LREL6321S single oven is an exceptionally strong performer at a great price—$50 less than it has been. It heats fast and simmers steadily on top of the stove, earning an excellent performance rating in our cooktop high and low tests. It also bakes and broils evenly. There’s no convection mode, but you’ll find a warming element, along with two high-powered burners on the cooktop. LG earned high reliability ratings for its electric ovens based on our member surveys.

Wall Ovens

The stainless steel LG WSEP4727F receives excellent ratings from our baking and broiling tests. It also has adequate capacity and self-cleans well. The model comes with a temperature probe, as well as convection and air-fry modes. You can control the oven from the glass touch panel or from your smartphone. In our member surveys, LG electric wall ovens received solid scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.
