With the launch of the redesigned F-150, Ford broke all of the rules for pickup trucks. From its much-touted aluminum construction -- shaving about 700 pounds from the old model -- to available small-displacement twin-turbo V6 engines promising the power of V8s but with better fuel economy, Ford has shaken things up in a category not known for innovation.

The weight-loss program and high-tech wizardry under the hood pay off with an impressive 17 mpg overall fuel economy from the 2.7-liter turbo V6. The F-150's 2.7- and beefier 3.5-liter turbo-V6 engines provide plenty of punch even at low revs, with quick acceleration and effortless towing ability. Powerwise, you won't miss a V8.

This surprises me with all the wind tunnels and engineers that Ford has. I was basically blown off by Ford Motors. This angers me as i really like this truck except for the wind noise. What Owners Say

Hydraulics (clutch master or slave cylinder)

“Shifting issue resolved with a computer update”

Anonymous, IL (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 2.7-L V6 turbo)

“5-4 downshift is harsh. Had the transmission re-programmed twice by the dealer under warranty (two separate TSBs), but the problem persists. The transmission computer "learns" my driving habits, starts out fine (when new and after re-programming), but eventually "learns" to shift very harshly when shifting down from 5th to 4th. Sometimes so harsh I'm afraid the stress will break something in the transmission or driveline. Very unsafe when on slick roads, and when towing”

Ron F., GA (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)

“The truck's diagnostics gave me an error code on my display. Looking it up, it indicated that I needed to take my truck to the dealership. It required the replacement of an "auxs transmission pump", covered by warranty. The shifting issue went away after the replacement”

Jim M., TX (2015 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6)
Slipping transmission

“It ended up being a service bulletin but no proactive work was done. We had to take it in to determine that and get it fixed”

Anonymous, RI (2015 Ford F-150 Platinum 3.5-L V6 turbo)

“They had to 'reboot' the computer because it was slow to engage. That solved the problem and has worked perfectly since then”

John M., FL (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)

“WE are not sure what the exact problem is - and when hooked up to a Ford Computer it showed us the error - once it was cleared it was not re-produced, but it still is not sounding correctly”

Kristin S., OH (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6)

Betty K., TN (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)

“Had problem with the front end 4wd hubs making noise vibration. Seems to be a well documented issue found by a google search since 2005. When I took tech for a ride to show the problem, he told me it was a known issue going back to 2012-13 and up thru. Also told me that there isn't a re engineered work around to fix issue. Told me that once serviced, I'd more than likely have to have it serviced again. Claim that it wouldn't cause any damage or improper functioning”

Anonymous, PA (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

“The 'Automatic Locking Hubs' or Integrated Wheel End on just the drivers side has failed 4 times in the last 14 months”

Rick S., PA (2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch 5.0-L V8)

“Lack of true traction control makes this a one wheel drive vechile”

Richard H., WI (2015 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling), loose interior and exterior trim or moldings, rust.

What Owners Say

“The molding at the base of the windshield is coming loose. Looks like sloppy workmanship. Worried that the sealed section may let rain and water into the dash. Also, we have recurring problem with the front passenger seat. any time it is raised to higher seat height, it rattles if no one is sitting in it”

Thomas K., MD (2015 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

“I chose this as it was closest to the Dashboard. The Dashboard was deformed at the area where the defrost vents are located, the dash material de-laminated and raised up. The entire dash had to be replaced. The dealer replaced it under warranty however the replacement is starting to exhibit the sane problem. I will say the dealership did a great job but in the back of my mind I know that major work was done and I'm always thinking I hear rattles and squeaks”

William B., FL (2015 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)

“paint chipping / peeling on step down from truck - cant think of proper name of it”

Anonymous, NB (2015 Ford F-150 XL 3.5-L V6)

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-150 Platinum 3.5-L V6 turbo)
Blower (fan) motor

“The fan stops operating and makes loud howling sounds which can be heard inside the vehicle and outside. The hotter it is outside or colder it is outside the louder the fan howls! We took it into the dealer and the claimed they cleaned it and it was okay. It worked okay for 1 week and it started up again. Now that the warranty is out the noise is BAD! So I suppose it will come out of our pocket”
