What Owners Say
"The Throttle Body was bad and had to be replaced. It took several weeks to get the parts. It was covered by the extended warranty."
William W., WV (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Major issues include vehicle constantly searching for the correct gear; loud, winding noises going up steep hills (over-revving in low gear), skips when just out of park (without shut off turned on), loud, high-pitched ringing when car shuts off, gri"
Anonymous, NH (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Began between first and second gears. Eventually got worse when transmission would shift up or down Dealer did 3 updates before finally replacing transmission"
Jeffrey A., UT (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear"
Ron S., ON (2014 Jeep Cherokee Sport 3.2-L V6)"The gear shifting is very rough; it started out with very delayed shifting and after a factory adjustment to the software the car now jumps in and out of gear suddenly"
Adam R., CA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Inconsistent down shifting at low speeds. Also, will only shift into 9th gear at over 80 mph"
Anonymous, VA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"The transmission in the 2014 Jeep is the worst I've ever experienced. It did not work right form the start and has continued to be an issue the entire time I've owned it. Jeep has done recalls and it has been in the shop multiple additional times but the transmission is still junk. This is my 3rd Jeep product but I will not be purchasing another one since this vehicle is so unreliable"
Matt H., CO (2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2-L V6)"Transmission will surge forward before I put it in gear. It is very difficult to try to inch forward, it wants to jump forward"
Anonymous, CO (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"Transmission would occasionally make a clunky sound when shifting"
Alexander S., WA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"clunky shifting from 4th to 5th gear allegedly attributed to a software problem. after multiple service calls, they cannot fix it"
Anonymous, OH (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Shifted very roughly after about 3000 miles. Had the system re-flashed and the problem went away until about 6000 miles, when it started shifting roughly again. The mechanic at the dealer said that after re-flashing, the transmission "learns how you drive, so be careful." Apparently, after a while, it forgets and has to be "re-learned""
Anonymous, NV (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"After computer update the automatic shifting would not drop down to the lower gear when coming to a stop. Taking off, the car jerks as it has to go into a lower gear to accelerate again."
Anonymous, MN (2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2-L V6)"Long trip (driving hi-way speed for two hours) .stop and park vehicle then start again and shift to drive and move forward the vehicle will surge forward, I brake quickly and you hear a bang feels like ..transmission shifting in higher gear then back down . This happens only on long trips . Had the vehicle checked for computer updates...all normal ."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Jeep Cherokee 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"The vehicle shifts very hard between first thru fourth gear and has been in the repair shop several times with this issue. Also, it NEVER goes into the highest road gear...dealer says road conditions have to be perfect for the highest gear to be reached but it doesn't get there on a several mile long downhill run with a tail wind and the cruise control set at 75!"
Anonymous, AR (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"It doesn't seem to downshift when slowing or stopping. No acceleration when starting up - thinks it is still in 2nd or 3rd. Takes a long time to shift to the next gear (2nd, 3rd, 4th)."
Linda P., OR (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"This vehicle has a nine speed transmission. This means that at any given time I am in the wrong gear. It shifts too soon at start up and I don't have the power to accelerate as needed. It is searching for the right gear. It has been re-flashed by the dealer numerous times."
John K., FL (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"This is an on-going problem that mostly affects shifting into 5th gear. It has been back to the dealer many times without ever being corrected. They have told me that they cannot detect the problem sometimes or else they tell me that I must live with it as many other vehicles now have the same issue."
Anonymous, OH (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"The transmission has shifted rough since the day I bought the vehicle. It is especially rough on rolling starts when the vehicle stays in 3rd gear, revs up, then slams into 1st gear."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"Shifting hesitates from a full stop. Not smooth between gears. Takes time to shift down after uphill drive at higher RPM."
Anonymous, (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"lousy upshifting"
Anonymous, NJ (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Would not reliably downshift, causing dangerous situation when merging with traffic."
Anonymous, PA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"does,nt seem to want to shift gears when going uphill transmission whines and shifts about 4,000 rpm"
Anonymous, CT (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"While driving, the car jerks sometimes, especially @ higher speeds or pulling off from a stopped position like a red traffic light.Car tech said these cars have 9 gear shifts and he has seen this problem with this car a lot. He said there is nothing wrong with car, it is the gears shifting."
Anonymous, MD (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Currently transmission in 2014 Jeeps are in a recall and settlement in court."
Anonymous, MO (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Shifting is delayed and sometimes shifts across several gears at once, making it difficult to change speeds quickly."
Cindy F., ID (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"This vehicle intermittently has had rough shifting and the dealer will do a software update, but eventually rough shifting comes back."
Anonymous, WA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Basically, anything related to the transmission is an issue. When shifting, all the lights are turning red (the P, D, ,etc). There is no impact on the driving but it's tellling me that there's something wrong. When accelerating, the car regularly end up in a 'dead zone' where the vehicle doesn't react what so ever, which makes it dangerous when passing another vehicle. It remains like this for about 3-4 seconds and then it literally kicks-in to a point that my head is hitting the top of my seat. When I tried to discuss this with the dealer, ended up with arguing all the time and now my warranty is over. Called Chrysler Canada and they're not open to compromised or options what so ever. I will remain polite here with the type of adjectives I would call this company but I really don't like my experience at this time. I wouldn't recommend this compagny and car to anyone. Everything built into this vehicle was with the intention to force you to go to the dealer (I usually do my mechanics myself), when you do their customer service is miserable and FCA isn't better either. NOT RECOMMENDED!."
Benoit O., QC (2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2-L V6)"Jeep issued a service bulletin to fix the rough gear change but the dealer would not install it, saying it would fix itself with time. It has not happened. It is as rough as when I first bought the vehicle"
Derek N., QC (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"Software problem. Rough shifting. Back to dealer 3 times for reprogramming"
Anonymous, FL (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"have to push acclerator almost to floor to get first gear start or transmission stays in second"
Anonymous, MO (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"Shifting is jerky in gears 1 thru 3. Up shifting and down shifting is slow in certain situations. Will not shift into 9th gear unless traveling over 80 mph"
Anonymous, VA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2-L V6)"There was a minor recall on the 2014 J.C. this was to install new software into the trans computer system. did not work so they replaced a float valve? on the trans. Works smooth now"

Anonymous, OH (2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 3.2-L V6)"Driving 60 miles to home on a dark, windy, and very rainy night, the transmission started to slip--the car would slow and increasing engine RPM would not make it go more quickly. After phone calls to Chrysler and time for it to cool, we were able to limp home. And back to the dealer the next day. They kept it for over a week. during which we heard multiple explanations for what might be wrong, but finally got it back. Only to have another problem (the morning of a vacation trip), which took anot"

Anonymous, VA (2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2-L V6)"Slipped early in life of care. Eventually locked up and would not move. Currently, 5 people in the car causes it to slip and then clunk into movement. It is never smooth through gear range."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Dealer repaired with 4th or 5th upgrade only after I complained about previous upgrades did not completely solve the problem. It wasn't covered by the warranty anymore. It was not ever completely fixed, but I had given up on repairs when last upgrade did not fix the problem completely. It improved at every upgrade. Still has slight problems."
Anonymous, QC (2014 Jeep Cherokee Sport 3.2-L V6)"Multiple transmission software reflash recalls. My vehicle lost power and Jeep kept it for two months to replace the rear end and adjust the transmission again. Apparently also needs all new brakes and tires every 30K miles - frustrating."

Car was recalled by dealer to update computer transmission settings, but no improvement occurred."
