Anonymous, SC (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Backup camera would fail to come on, or if came on would fade to black."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"Display froze numerous times. Software update by dealer finally fixed it."
Anonymous, (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 2.7-L V6 turbo)"the display intermittently freezes or lags. most notable in cold weather. the last system update seems to help mitigate the problem"
Anonymous, (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)"APIM module in the Sync3 is faulty. First started when truck was two years old and 40,000 miles. It is a daily occurrence. Ford refused to repair under warranty (less than two years old, but greater than warranty mileage). I argue that an electronic component shouldn't fail after only two years. Approximately $1200 to replace APIM module."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The trucks computer is not operating properly and the battery goes dead and the dealer said it is out of warranty when the problem started at 36000 miles"
Anonymous, WA (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)"The touchscreen freezes and the screen has mind of it's own. The consoles constantly drops my cellphone!"
Linda B., CO (2017 Ford F-150 King Ranch 3.5-L V6 turbo)"Entire entertainment system lagging. GPS, Radio, Nav, Voice Command, all. Been back to Ford twice, not fixed yet."
Oscar W., TX (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"Operation of touchscreen would become sluggish and difficult to use, Bluetooth connection to phone would randomly disconnect then reconnect later, GPS warning light would illuminate"
Anonymous, GA (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)"The display screen freezes on all items, even climate controls. , radio, temperature settings, etc."
Jeannie D., TX (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"This included many of the items on the previous list. The IPIM module failed."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)"The SYNC system goes completely down periodically. Have taken it to dealerships at least four times for resolution."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The display has gone blank at startup 3 or 4 times since I bought it. It only returned on a restart a few minutes later. A few months ago a technician unhooked the battery for a short time which supposedly rebooted the system. No problem since. Fingers crossed."
Thomas D., OH (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 2.7-L V6 turbo)"The sync3 master control stopped working, affecting all of the vehicle components I checked off. Once the component was replaced, all systems operate correctly. Since this is a third party supplied part and is linked to the VIN, it took an ungodly amount of time for the part to be manufactured and shipped to the dealer. From first reporting the issue to repair was three weeks."
James K., NY (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"Backup camera/display failed by going blank and freezing up; therefore, the dealer repaired it under warranty after 18 months by replacing the entire system since it could not be repaired. Ford farmed out the service replacement to a local technician and provided me with a loaner vehicle until repairs were completed."
Skip T., GA (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)"Display screen has froze up, totally quit working, etc. on several occasions. Everytime I take it to the dealer, they say they cannot duplicate what I am complaining about (although I have actually been to the dealer and the service manager has viewed the problem first hand). This has happened several times and it results in me taking my F150 to the dealer and leaving it a couple or hours of sometimes 2 days. They run all sorts of test and basically when they call to tell me its fixed, all they tell me is they did a software update, or rebooted the system ... and this usually causes me to have to pair my phone again with the unit and upload all my phone contacts ... AGAIN!"
Henry M., AL (2017 Ford F-150 Platinum 3.5-L V6 turbo)"In 2017 Ford does not support USB 3 which came out in 2009. Attempting to use a USB 3 device generates a excessive power usage. USB 2 no problem"
Anonymous, TX (2017 Ford F-150 Platinum 3.5-L V6 turbo)"When listening to music from and iPhone using Bluetooth, the speakers went to maximum and could not be controlled. We had to get out of the vehicle and wait for it to time out."
Anonymous, AB (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)"Replacement of the APIM unit which is associated with the SYNC3 system. The phone would not connect, the screen would freeze, GPS would register inaccurate location, radio would not work, and controls were very sluggish. This started late last year (2019) and the replacement unit is already starting to show the same signs of failure."
Anonymous, (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)"Road trip from Washington state to Florida. When unsure the in-dash navigation was accurate, we used Google maps on i-phone. They overlay disabled the in-dash navigation voice directions. Once home, Ford is installing the updated navigation maps and will reset programming. Assume all will be well, but haven't had chance yet to try."
Anonymous, WA (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"We used both the in-dash navigation system and our google map navigation from our cell phone. The car's navigation system became confused."
Anonymous, (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"You cannot use your current location to set a Fovourite. You must have and address, intersection, or city. Farm and ranch trucks are often in places where there are no addresses. If TomTom and Garmin can do it, Ford can do it"
John W., AB (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.0-L V8)"System would not show traffic. Fordreplaced the display module which fixed the problem. Only issue was I had to leave the car with them for a week."
Anonymous, TX (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"The problem started when the GPS would not load. It stayed on a screen with a spinning circle with the text Loading Maps At the same time this occurred I was unable to use the cell phone with the car. On top of this issue, I went around with the dealership getting it fixed and it ended up takin almost a month to correct. They told me that there was no error code being produced and Ford won't cover parts without a code. I ended up calling Ford corporate customer service. They assisting in getting the issue resolved and gave me free wipers, filters, and oil changes for the length of the lease."
Gary H., MI (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)"The problem is with the Sync 3 system. This is the second time it has broken down on a road trip to Oregon. The GPS either stopped working completely or the location icon was not following the road we were on. When the touch screen was tapped, it either did not respond at all, or it took minutes for it to respond. That is not exactly convenient when driving. It will go back to the dealer for repair in two days. The first time it was under warranty, and it should be this time also. From now on we will take an old Garmin GPS with us just in case it stops working again."
Lynn F., CO (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)"The menu system is NOT user friendly. An example is canceling trip is not easy to fund under menu or system. That function is buried not obvious or intuitive. It's rather obtuse."
Hoyett B., TX (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)"On occasion the GPS Tracking arrow wonders off course and re-routes. it usually corrects itself within a 1/4 mile and will say stay on the route (I-84 East)."

Anonymous, AZ (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)"the infotainment system is hard to navigate and not intuitive"
Donald C., AZ (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)"Lost Bluetooth pairing and had to have Verizon correct the problem, Ford said they fixed it but did not."
Richard L., MA (2017 Ford F-150 Platinum 5.0-L V8)"Bluetooth music connection failed. After several attempts to fix via updates the dealer replaced the APIM unit under warranty"
Anonymous, MS (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 2.7-L V6 turbo)"Radio would not change station without hesitation up to 10 seconds. GPS would sometimes track and sometimes not."
Anonymous, (2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6)"When changing stations, touching the screen does not work until minutes later. If you touch repeatedly, the preset will reset to the station you are on, not to the station that it was previously set for."
Lynn F., CO (2017 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)"Received notice of update from FMC, but after following instructions system would not update.Had to pay dealership to finally do it."
