    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

    "Dislodged apple car play"

    Anonymous, SC (2020 Ford F-150 Lariat 2.7-L V6 turbo)
    Display screen freezes up

"screen freezes frequently requiring hard reset. At every startup, even when functioning, I am prompted to answer questions about 911 connection, even though these are supposed to be saved and not answered every time. Ford dealer said that it requires a module replacement. I am hoping that recent recall will fix the issue. It is scheduled for this coming week. A hard reset (holding down power button and forward scan button) usually fixes the issue. Sometimes, rear camera will stay on and not shut off even when driving forward at roadway speeds. I believe it's all part of the same problem."

    Anonymous A., MI (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)

    "Already answered this"

    Anonymous, MN (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 3.5-L V6 turbo)

    Rough shifting

    "Shifting hard and leaky seal"

    Anonymous, TX (2020 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

"Had transmission serviced as regular maintenance at Ford dealer. They reprogrammed it, and it has never worked as it did since. It searches, skips shifts, hangs up in gears and almost stalls at times. Dealership says it is fine. The mileage has improved by 1 mile per gallon, but the transmission feels loose. I have towed a 5500 lb trailer with it since they reprogrammed it, and had zero problems with towing. Went 2000 miles towing. When just driving, it still is not confidence inspiring. I absolutely loved the truck before they reprogrammed the transmission. Now, Im looking to buy something else."

    Anonymous A., OH (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

    "Still investigating."

    Anonymous, FL (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

"There is not really anything more to add except Ford (IMO) is only addressing these issues individually on a case by case basis. They know what the problem is and how to fix it. The only problem is this would require a recall that would run into the millions of dollars to fix. If they can keep kicking that can down the road, until the five-year powertrain warranty expires, then that is just another win for them (now they can charge you full price for these repairs). I wrote about my experience to Ford Customer Service, explaining exactly what I experienced since buying my truck from a Ford dealership. Their response...no response. It has been more than a month since I called on them to do a voluntary recall of these known issues...crickets in the backyard were louder than the response I got from them...nothing. "Hello, darkness my ole friend", these complaints are going in the trash bend."

    Anonymous, NC (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Slipping transmission

"Still understanding how/why this is happening"

    Anonymous, FL (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Transmission computer

""Reprogrammed 2 X by dealer, slip in the rear differential dealer replaced fluid at my cost seems ok but will keep an eye on it.""

    Anonymous, ON (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Transmission leaks

""Problem was recognized in February 2025 by service technician changing the oil. Ford warranty covered the repair which involved opening up the transmission to replace a gasket. I believe the problem was resolved, but I have noticed transmission "thunks" since then but have not reported it. Not sure it's a problem.""

    Anonymous A., NY (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

"The temporary tags were still on the truck. A check engine light came on. Once taking it back to the dealer, they used an instrument to determine why it came on. A code appeared stating it was the catalyst converter"

Anonymous, OH (2020 Ford F-150 XLT Unsure)

"The original cat converter had already been replaced by a previous owner and the replacement was poor quality non-Ford and it failed."

    Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

    What Owners Say

    Engine rebuild or replacement

"There were no obvious signs of an issue. During a routine inspection, the Dealer determined that the engine was consuming more oil than the factory specifications. This resulted in a warranty covered engine block replacement. All components from the original block were reinstalled on the new block. The overall time for the replacement lasted about one month."

    Anonymous, ME (2020 Ford F-150 Unsure 5.0-L V8)

"oil consumption: a well known + documented problem; dealer was unconcerned and even antagonistic; had to start a war in order to get resolved; incompetent local dealer botched install (alternator and a/c issues) and dealer initially refused to address a/c + alternator: had to prove they were responsible; in general: will never purchase a ford again and will avoid ALL dealership unless unable to find used."

    Anonymous A., NC (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

"In the fall of 2024, I took my truck in unsure of what it was running so loudly and erratically and was told after a diagnostic that my Cam Phasers were failing along with my timing chains. After 11k in repairs, I got my truck back. There was no loaner made available to me for those 2 weeks. About 2 months agoJ7ne 2025, I was told that the repairs made failed am d that I would need a total engine replacement of About 12k plus labor by the same Ford dealer. Im panicked. I had to finance the first 11k repair into my truck loan. I can't afford another repair or replacement."

    Anonymous A., OK (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)
    Other major engine problem

""Problem started when engine was new and has not been resolved. Engine has consistently consumed 2-3 qts of oil between oil changes (every 5000 miles). Vehicle currently has 28,500 miles on odometer.""

    Anonymous, MN (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

"We have had 2 major engine issues with this truck. Both were known Ford Service items but were NOT covered under warranty. The first was for excessive oil burning causing a sudden drop in oil pressure. This was addressed in Ford's Technical Service Bulletin 19-2365. The second issue was a CDF drum failure, requiring the engine be taken apart for repair. These issues cost approximately $10,000 combined to repair."

    Anonymous, MA (2020 Ford F-150 XL 5.0-L V8)

    Keyless entry

"the automatic keyless entry quit working on the passenger side after about 40,000 miles. its one that opens the door when you put your hand in the handle if you've got the fob. I checked on repair and was told it was about $400. the clicker still opens that door so I decided not to pay for the repair"

    Anonymous A., FL (2020 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5-L V6 turbo)

    Anonymous A., OH (2020 Ford F-150 Lariat 3.0-L V6 diesel)

    Transmission Major

Transmission rebuild or replacement, torque converter, premature clutch replacement.

    What Owners Say

    Transmission rebuild or replacement

"One need look no further than the numerous class action lawsuits and YouTube videos that highlight the design problems with the 10R80 transmissions (2017-2022). The repairs they had to do on my truck, at 5 years old and only 17,000 miles total (I don't drive much), were thankfully covered under warranty (with one month to spare) or I would have been out a pretty penny for the costs of labor and all the parts that had to be replaced. The same failing parts that all those mechanics on YouTube warned "you" about. These transmissions were introduced to the Ford line of vehicles in 2017 and were still being produced with the same failing parts till 2022. It was not until 2023 that Ford addressed the problems along the assembly line (per online data sites). The worst thing: I experienced the harsh shifting in 2024 at 14,000 miles. The truck was four years old at that point. I was told they (Ford dealership) found no computer errors, and they reprogrammed the transmission computer to address the harsh shifting. Fast forward one year, and only 3,000 miles later, the problem had only worsened. They still found no computer errors, and yet the transmission required major parts replacement. Kudos to the mechanic from Ford who dug a little deeper than simply relying on a computer readout. NOTE: How can a transmission with that much damage not register a single error code on their own Ford analysis computers? And if that is in fact the case, that no error codes were being generated for my truck, then how could anyone trust buying one of these Ford vehicles with a 10R80 transmission in the first place (2017-2022)?"

    Anonymous, NC (2020 Ford F-150 XLT 5.0-L V8)

"Rough shifting transmission replaced by Ford under warranty. Seal and drum issue not holding pressure."
